Sometimes, a credential evaluation is not what you need to achieve your goal. The most common cases are described below.
Regulated professions (BIG-registration)
If you wish to exercise a so called regulated profession (in Dutch: gereglementeerd beroep, for which a 'B.I.G.'-registration is required) within the Dutch health care system (such as for instance dentist, physician, registered nurse, pharmacist, physiotherapist), you will always need permission from the Dutch Ministery of Health (called 'VWS'). If this is the case, a credential evaluation has no relevance. For more information please go to www.verwijspunt.nl.
Teaching
If you want to work as a teacher within the regular Dutch educational system, you need permission from the Dutch Minister of Education. If this is the case, a credential evaluation has no relevance. For more information please go to www.ib-groep.nl.
Using a Dutch academic title
If you want to be entitled to use a Dutch academic title (these are: baccalaureus, ingenieur (ing. and ir.), meester, doctorandus and doctor), you will need the permission of the Dutch Minister of Education. If you are only interested in the usage of the title, a credential evaluation has no relevance. For more information go to: www.ib-groep.nl.
Please note that you are always allowed to use your foreign academic title(s) as is customary in the country where you were educated.
If these cases are not relevant to yours, you can continue as normal.
